Farmers in Busia and Bungoma counties are up in arms as some companies increase price of sukumawiki seeds by more than 400 per cent. They have now appealed to Deputy President and former Agriculture Minister, William Ruto, to intervene and lower the prices to affordable levels. Livingstone Muganda from Sitabicha in Bungoma West said 250 grams of Simlo seeds belonging to Kenya Seed Company had increased from Sh250 to Sh1,000, reflecting 400 per cent increase.
