A Vietnamese national has been arrested in connection with the ivory trade yesterday at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Ngiyen Xuan Nam was boarding Kenya Airways flight number KQ886 to Bangkok from Angola when he was arrested. He was found with nine pieces of ivory weighing in at 37.2 kilograms, 60 chopsticks made of ivory, 43 ivory bangles, 52 ivory beads, five lion teeth and nine lion claws. He was taken to the Kibera law courts. The far east has proven to be the most notorious buyer of ivory and wildlife products, leading to a decimation in wildlife populations across Africa.
