THE Murang’a county government has raised concerns over mismanagement of farmers' cooperative societies. Governor Mwangi Wa Iria said the societies collapse leaving many farmers desperate. The governor was speaking during a meeting with tea farmers in Murang’a. He said most of the cooperatives' officials misappropriated funds entrusted to them by the farmers. “Due to embezzlement of funds many farmers have been forced to uproot their tea and coffee trees,” Iria said.
