Fishermen want new laws

RESIDENTS of Nyakach district have asked county representatives to amend the by-laws to control the effluents discharged into the lake. The residents said the industries in Kisumu county are discharging raw waste into the Lake Victoria killing the aquatic creatures. George Okello said the effluents discharged into the lake have led to acute shortage of fish in the county. “Fish is our source of livelihood that needs to be protected,” Okello said, adding that prices of fish have drastically shot up.
