University student hangs himself on Boxing Day

The body of a university student was yesterday found dangling from the roof of his house in Tabaka village, Kisii county. Gideon Ochoi, a second year medical student at Egerton University, committed suicide under unclear circumstances. It was reported that Gideon had eaten supper with his family on December 26 before he retired to bed. Gideon’s mother Peninah Ochoi said her son woke up and went to a cowshed where he picked up a rope that he used to hang himself. “There were no signs that my son was going to hang himself.”
