Civil Society groups have opposed proposals by the African Union (AU) to amend the Rome Statute in order to shield sitting heads of state from trial. The NGOs who are members of the Coalition for the International Criminal Court have met at the ongoing Assembly of State Parties (ASP) meeting at the Hague and said the amendments amounted to supporting impunity.
