Mombasa county is working towards reducing new HIV infections by at least 50 per cent by 2015, county Health executive Joab Tumbo has said. By 2011, there were about 4,300 new adult infections in the county every year. Speaking during a press briefing at the County Hall yesterday, Tumbo said they want to halve this figure by 2015, but the low condom use may hinder achievement of the target. “In Mombasa county, low condom use poses a significant risk of HIV infection ,” he said.
