A middle aged lady recently came for therapy because she was feeling very conflicted, lacked a sense of who she is and was generally not at peace with herself. On further discussion, it begun to emerge that various occurrences in childhood had scarred this lady so badly that she assumed a totally new persona, different from the person she really is. Her fear of ever getting hurt again or being vulnerable with another person had made her build walls to shut everyone out yet in the process, she ended up shutting even herself out.
