The price of milk has gone up by more than 15 per cent in most parts of the Rift Valley and Western Kenya region where processors have reported a decline in production. Chairman of New KCC Matu Wamae has attributed the increased prices to decline in production of milk by farmers. James Bett, a representative of farmers in Nandi said the reduced production was because farmers are opting to hawk milk in the open market instead of giving it to leading processors due to low prices.
