Uriri constituency parliamentary aspirant Paul Odhiambo has raised alarm over the suffering of widows in the region. The Mombasa-based trader says the cash transfer programme for widows hardly benefits constituents and asked the Government to assist the poor. “Widows are languishing in poverty and the government should find a solution,” he said. Odhiambo said widows should be assisted to meet basic needs and take care of children. He asked the Government to release allowances due to the elderly in Uriri who had patiently waited since the project was launched.
