MOMBASA county government is planning to tax the national government on all public schools in the county. Governor Hassan Joho said the tax will be used to raise funds for upgrading schools, paying bursaries and providing scholarships. Speaking yesterday during the launch of a five-year Mombasa Education Strategic Policy at Serena Hotel, Joho said they target to spend Sh5.7 billion on education in the next four years. He said the new county Finance Bill 2013 has given them authority to demand payment for all county assets being used by other parties including the national government.
