Mbeere residents held demonstration yesterday demanding resolution of human wildlife conflict after a man who was bitten by a hippo died from the injuries. The man, whose name could not be immediately established, was walking home on Tuesday night when the hippo bit him as he crossed Thiba River. He was rushed to Embu Provincial Hospital where medics said he died from excessive bleeding due to the hippo's deep bites. Mbeere OCPD Bernstein Shari had a hard time containing the irate crowd who decried the rampant wildlife-related deaths and demanded for the fencing of Mwea National Reserve.
