Veteran multi-party crusader Charles Rubia has moved to court demanding Sh500 million as compensation for alleged torture and mistreatment he underwent in the hands of government agents. Rubia has sued the state for unlawful arrest and torture in the 90s when he fought for the introduction of multiparty politics in the country. In a suit filed at the High court against the attorney general by lawyer Irungu Kang’ata, the former Starehe MP says he was arrested and tortured by Special Branch officers acting on instructions of senior government officers...
