CIVIL society activists yesterday held a mock 'state burial' and burnt 221 of caskets. The 221 caskets represented the number of MPs in the last Parliament excluding the President. The mock burial symbolised the public's rejection of the hefty perks that the MPs of the 10th Parliament were demanding as their send-off package. The amendment to the Finance Act which was passed during a late night session in Parliament on Thursday last week was however rejected by President Kibaki, who declined to assent to it at the weekend.
