Confusion marred the gubernatorial results for the Laikipia seat. Results released in Nanyuki town indicated that aspirant Mburu Kamau had won while those released in Nyahururu indicated that his opponent Joshua Irungu won. Those in Nanyuki indicated that Mburu had won with 45,847 votes while Irungu had 28,718 votes. Those announced at Nyahururu by the returning officer showed that Irungu had won with 19,177 while Irungu had 10,368.
