Three immediate former MPs in Kiambu were defeated by their rivals in last week's nominations. Former Kikuyu MP Lewis Nguyai lost to Cotu deputy secretary general George Muchai for the Kabete seat while former Limuru MP Peter Mwathi lost to businessman Chege Kiragu. Muchai garnered 7,642 votes against Nguyai's 6,802 while Kiragu floored Mwathi by 9,581 to 4,550 in the hotly contested TNA nominations.
