Goods destined for Uganda and the Great Lakes region were this weekend stuck near Malaba after the train ferrying them derailed on Friday. Railway services on the Bungoma-Kampala line were halted until yesterday afternoon when the wreckage was cleared. Rail cargo from Uganda destined for the port of Mombasa remained parked at Malaba Railway Station. Goods enroute to Uganda were held up in Bungoma.
