KENYA Tea Development Agency wants to runs private tea farms to boost crop production. Chairman Peter Kanyago said the agency is already running some private tea farms in Rift Valley. Speaking at the weekend at Ragati Tea Factory in Mathira during the annual general meeting, Kanyago said KTDA will also manage individual tea farms. “We are doing this at a small fee but our aim is to get high yields," said the chairman. He said KTDA started this programme after some farmers were could not afford to hire casual labourers to pick their bumper harvest.
