The Kenya Forest Service plans to plant trees on private farms in a bid to attain 10 per cent forest cover. The KFS deputy director Esau Omollo said more trees will be planted in community land. He said the forest cover now stands at 6.9 per cent following efforts by stakeholders to plant trees over the last two years. Omollo was speaking at Muringato KFS station near Nyeri town after overseeing the signing of an agreement on environment conservation on Tuesday and handing over of six forest stations. They include Naro Moru, Nanyuki, Ragati, Kiandongoro, Zaina and Chehe.
