Oparanya wants better academic standards

KAKAMEGA Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has decried poor performance of the county secondary schools in national examinations. Oparanya said Kakamega is the second largest county with a population of 1.8 million after Nairobi but lags behind in education and development because of "bad politics". He said Kakamega, which used to lead in national examinations in both primary and secondary schools, has continually lowered its academic standards “because teachers have joined politics”.
