Kabras and Catholic University side, Monks have been promoted to the Kenya Cup for the 2014-2015 season which starts in November. The two teams replace Eldoret and Kisumu RFC who have been relegated to the Eric Shirley Shield division. Kabras elevation now means Western region will have two teams in the top flight with the other being Western Bulls. Western region is a hub of rugby players and is the home to some of the top rugby schools such as St. Peter’s Mumias, Bungoma, Musingu and Kakamega High.
