The Kenya Railways Corporation owes Nakuru county more than Sh250 million in land rates, some dating back 10 years. As a result, the county has embarked on repossessing prime property belonging to Kenya Railways in Nakuru town to offset the rising debt. Through the assembly Implementation Committee, the county expressed its concern over the rising debts by the institution. According to the committee chairman Simon Wanyoike, Nakuru was interested in a parcel of land, which lies near the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.
