New jikos to save Mau from logging

KENYA Forest Service has donated 400 improved jikos to six women's groups in Narok South. The move aims at conserving the environment by reducing the amount of firewood the women use to prevent further destruction of Mau Forest. Donating the jikos at Ololulunga yesterday, Narok subcounty forest officer Moses Rotich said, “KFS will help the women to reach their target of 15 per cent of forest cover within Narok county, which currently stand at less than 10 per cent due to continuous destruction of the forest.” He said they are targeting women in the area as they are the ones who collect...
