Paper converters have warned that thousands of jobs are at stake, owing to a tax review that will raise costs of imported paper and make the local industry uncompetitive. The manufacturing sub-sector says prices of paper-packaged consumer goods are likely to rise. The paper and paperboard sector specialises in transforming rolls of paper into various uses, including packaging bags, printing, books and newspapers.
