EACC probes relief food theft claims in Garissa

Anti-graft police in Garissa are investigating massive theft of relief food believed to be orchestrated by senior government officials. Reports indicate large amounts of relief food are sold. Ethics and Anti-Corruption officials said hardly 20 per cent of relief food released by the national government reaches the hunger-stricken. EACC says the vice is rampant in Tana River and Garissa counties. On Wednesday last week, EACC intercepted 200 bags of rice and beans that were going to be sold.
