URP candidates in Uasin Gishu led by the governor aspirant Jackson Mandago have asked the government to shelf plans to privatise NCPB and the New KCC until after the elections. "Nothing should happen in the process of privatising the two important institutions until after the elections," said Mandago. The privatisation has been opposed by Rift Valley farmers too. Kenya Farmers Association has claimed some powerful individuals are taking advantage of the elections to push through the privatisation plans within the government.
