Investigations into the alleged kidnapping of Embu county assembly speaker Kariuki Mate have taken a new twist. In written reports to investigators, two doctors presented conflicting reports on the mental state of self-confessed kidnapper, carpenter Joseph Ng’ang’a. Conspiracy theories abound, including that Mate organised his own kidnap to get political sympathy and influence a contempt-of-court case facing him in Kirinyaga.
