Prosecutor 'crisis' hits Kibera

Proceedings at the Kibera court were nearly brought to a standstill yesterday following a shortage of prosecutors. Some four prosecutors serve the nine courts in Kibera. A prosecutor must be present at the hearing of a case. Senior principal magistrate Teresia Matheka said the issue "is a looming crisis". She said the Director of Public Prosecution office should hire more prosecutors if they are to function as they should. The prosecutors were required to work on multiple cases.
