MPs yesterday amended the law on the vetting of judges and magistrates and blocked the courts from hearing any matter on judicial officers who have been found unfit to serve. The amended Vetting of Judges and Magistrates Act, 2011 says the removal of any judicial officer under the Act “shall not be subject to question in, or review by, any court.” Justice minister Eugene Wamalwa said the exclusion of that clause was an oversight when law was being passed.
