Derick Ekitela, 13, emerged the top candidate in Turkana after scoring 434 marks in KCPE.
The Turkana Blooms Academy Lodwar pupil says he wants to be a civil engineer so that he can innovate and develop Turkana.
“It’s a great opportunity that God has granted me good marks that I had worked and prayed for. Today, I am a happy boy. However, I didn’t expect to score 434 marks because my target was only to get 420 marks,” he said.
He got financial assistance from his teachers and colleagues to complete his studies. He said his teachers were the key motivator for his success.
