A Kericho businessman has asked the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate the Muhuroni Town Council over illegal fees charged on sugar dealers. Rashmikant Shah also asked the Local Government ministry to explain whether a fee charged by the council on sugar transporters is valid. Speaking to the Star in his shop on Friday, Shah said his lorry driver was forced to pay the council Sh700 as transport fee in October, a fee he described as an extortion and non-existent. He said the council refunded him the money and wrote him an apology letter after he complained for a whole month.
