More than 3,000 women aspirants in the Rift Valley have stepped up campaigns in a bid to win nominations in their parties ahead of the March 4 general election. However, Higher Education minister Margaret Kamar says the number of women who have come up to vie for political seats in Kenya is lower than expected. "We need more women to come out and battle for elective positions instead of them waiting to be nominated by political parties," she said.
