A police constable lost a gun after he was attacked by a gang of matatu operators as he attempted to impound a vehicle that had been involved in an accident in Kakamega on Thursday night. Oliver Toroitich also lost a tooth in the clash during which a wallet containing Sh5000, a police ID card and a mobile phone. Police later recovered the Ceska pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition from a person they only referred to as "a good citizen".
