Dutch woman charged with using dud cheque to buy bags of maize

A Dutch woman who attempted to defraud a business man of Sh 0.9 million was yesterday arraigned in court. The woman, Gezina Gerriffe Alida Vander Pod, was arrested in Mombasa in December last year after she allegedly attempted to purchase 300 bags of maize worth Sh 990,000 using a dud cheque from NIC bank. While testifying in the case, anti terror police officer Abubakar Abarob said the suspect used a stolen passport from a 21 year old American tourist to dupe officials.
