Private quarry owners in Nyandarua county on Tuesday demonstrated against a 100 per cent increase in mining licence fees. They gave Governor Daniel Waithaka seven days to act or they will move to court. In a memorandum handed to Waithaka, the quarry owners said during the Finance Bill 2013 public participation, they agreed with Finance executive Nelson Ngaruiya that they will pay Sh6,150 per year. “We are surprised that the Finance Act shows Sh12, 800.
