THE case against suspected Amboseli elephant poacher Pekei ole Shoke was not heard on Wednesday after the magistrate handling it in Loitokitok failed to show up. Pekei was last month charged with being found with ivory. He was linked to the killing last month of the legendary elephant matriarch, Qumquat, and her two daughters Qantina and Quaye. Pekei has previously been accused of failing to attend the hearing of another case in which is facing a similar charge. He turned up for the hearing but magistrate Samson Temu did not show up. The case was rescheduled to December 3.
