ODM starts paying clerks
ODM has started paying presiding officers and clerks who conducted the recent party nominations in the county. Elections coordinator Naphtali Akelo Gwela said the party started paying the clerks in Rarieda constituency yesterday. Gwela said each clerk received Sh1,000 as dues for the one-day poll and Sh4,000 to each presiding officer for the two days of the primaries. Gwela said presiding officers and clerks in other constituencies should be patient as their payment was being organised.

A lobby group to campaign for the Amani Coalition presidential flag bearer Musalia Mudavadi in Kakamega County has been launched. THERE was jubilation at St. Teresa’s Girls’ Primary School, in Yala, after news broke out that a pupil from the institution was the top candidate in Nyanza Province. Hundreds of pupils and teachers took to the streets of Yala town chanting victory slogans for Noella Okoth Mudunga, who topped in the region with 419 marks. Policemen fight over drink
Two policemen yesterday fought in a bar in Siaya town after they quarrelled over whose turn was to buy beer. Disagreement arose when one of the AP officers demanded his friend, a regular police buy him a drink. He said told his counterpart to buy him a drink because they had already been paid. The regular policeman took offence.

Sh6m bhang impounded
POLICE yesterday seized bhang worth Sh6.5 million at Isebania town on the border of Kenya and Tanzania. They said the bhang was smuggled from Mara region of Tanzania and was destined to Nairobi and Mombasa. Kuria West police boss Paul Kiogora said the bhang which weighed 633 kg.

SCORES of youth in Mumias town were yesterday hurt as they scrambled for money dished out by former Ikolomani MP Binny Khalwale. Three pupils shot in Kuria
THREE primary school pupils are admitted at a Migori hospital after being shot by Anti Stock Theft Unit officers. The pupils were caught in the crossfire between the ASTU officers and cattle rustlers on the Trans Mara and Kuria border. They have been admitted at Migori Level Four Hospital after with bullet wounds. The pupils are from St Catherine Kohero Primary School in Masangora in Kwiho. James Chacha, 15, a class six pupil and Chacha Mokami, 17 sustained bullet wounds on the thighs, while an underage girl had her hand broken. Classes are frequently disrupted by rustling.
