I'm good at.....socialising and making new friends. I'm very bad at......lying. The last book I enjoyed reading is......Gifted Hands by Ben Carson. A common misconception of me is........I do not have emotions. The most surprising thing that happened to me is....being in the music industry for less than a year and doing things I never imagined while at the same time pursuing my dream career. One of my worst childhood fears was..........going to the dentist. I wish people would take more notice of..........the local music industry. My ideal night out is..........with friend enjoying good music...

Indeed, for well-rounded child development, kids need to run around and play. The land grabbing of Nairobi’s Lang’ata Road Primary School playground, first reported by the Star, is an especially vicious venal action. It is an attempt to bring to an end 51 years’ worth of children playing in this space, assembling there and receiving prizes. Whatever other use the so-called developers who have fenced it off envision for it – whether car park, mall or a combination – this particular playground must stay with this primary school. Lang’ata Road Primary must win a victory against land-grab forgery...

Partisan politicians are once again shifting goalposts on dialogue. Last year, Cord wanted dialogue within two months or else... The rejection of dialogue by the ruling coalition recreated the push for a constitutional referendum. Last week, Cord renewed the call for dialogue without conditions. President Uhuru Kenyatta immediately accepted the call, in the Holy Shrine, as good for national unity. But during the burial of Fidel Odinga on Saturday in Bondo, some Cord politicians 'sneaked' two conditions to the call. The resolution of the strike by teachers in public schools, and the withdrawal...

THE number of mothers giving birth at Pumwani Maternity Hospital has dropped by 40 per cent in the past week. Nairobi Health executive Robert Ayisi yesterday said the decline has been caused by bad publicity, competition from private hospitals and an increased number of traditional birth attendants. “It is very sad to see this drop, a few months after the number rose by 30 per cent because of the government’s free maternity services,” he said. Ayisi denied media reports that a mother last week lost her twin babies at the hospital because of nurses’ negligence and carelessness. He said the...

On Monday, IEBC named Ezra Chiloba, a specialist in electoral governance and political management, as the new commission’s chief executive after day-long interviews that involved four candidates...

Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery has been urged to fight crime instead of unauthorised sirens. Kenya Muslims National Advisory Council chairman Sheikh Juma Ngao said Nkaissery should not “be another Lenku”. “Interfering with vehicle sirens and strobe lights does not befit his standard as a retired major general. How does that help us face the al Shabaab menace?” he said. Ngao spoke to the Star on the phone yesterday. He urged Nkaissery to form a committee to study how Ethiopia has managed to ward off al Shabaab attacks.

Police Reforms Working Group-Kenya said Nkaissery’s remarks “are not only disturbing but also a dangerous, misleading misrepresentation and stigmatisation of the institutions”. Nkaiserry was quoted in the media last month saying: “We cannot have civilians commanding uniformed people. It cannot happen, it has never happened anywhere in the world.” He was referring to the National Police Service Commission and Independent Policing Oversight Authority. “...
