Fare Thee well Margaret thatcher

The death of Baroness Margaret Thatcher was met with a lot of mixed feelings. While many mourned her, we saw a lot of media coverage on the ‘celebrations’ that rocked parts of UK, with people smashing shop windows and indulging in destructive behaviour to celebrate her passing on. I could only deduce one thing from this – rioters of this nature are blatantly stupid; not just in UK but the world over. You are busy smashing down a means of putting food on the table simply because you overjoyed at someone’s death or even protesting against what you might feel is an atrocity?...

Imagine if, several months after Kenya has devolved major services like water, health and agriculture to counties, the quality of these services suddenly declines rapidly. Neither counties nor national government know what they are supposed to do under the new system, and neither has the money or authority to take up their new roles. Public support for devolution falls, and Kenya’s great experiment is deemed a failure. Could this really happen?...

Judges were told to stop wearing wigs and were addressed as 'Your Honour' instead of 'My Lord'. This was a breath of fresh air. This has not detracted from the authority of the judiciary. The solemnity of the Supreme Court was very evident during the recent hearing of the presidential election petitions. The new LSK dress code is therefore overkill in this environment...
