More than 200 residents of Sori in Nyatike district yesterday demonstrated against mining at Chakori Hills. Led by Okello Suleiman, the residents who live at the foot of the hills asked the government to stop the mining. “This is a disaster-in-waiting. Miners use explosives leaving rocks hanging dangerously. In case of a mudslide, the rocks will bury our houses,” Suleiman said.
