Man may face murder charges
A 31-year-old man may face murder charges. Moses Achiel allegedly burnt his girlfriend on February 26 at Malindi Central in Malindi Township. He was initially charged with assault. However, the prosecution requested the court to allow them to amend the charges when Saumu Anjere succumbed to the injuries on March 13. Achiel had denied the charges and was released on a Sh50,000 bail. They also applied that the accused to be held in custody before his charged is amended. Treasury unfair in revenue allocation - governors
THE Council of Governors has accused Treasury of refusing to do the costing of all devolved functions. The governors say the treasury has no particular method of sharing the revenue and is instead allocating revenue arbitrarily. They told a Senate committee yesterday that the total cost of running the 47 counties will only be known if the devolved functions are costed. The governors said the council’s own costing indicates that it will require at least Sh313 billion to effectively run the counties in the financial year.
